About the Author

Susan J. Dicker was born into the multilingual world of an immigrant family in New York City. She is Associate Professor of English at Hostos Community College in the Bronx, New York, an ethnically diverse neighborhood. Her articles on language pluralism in American life appear in numerous journals.
